Austral Plywoods supplied a number of the Sydney 2000 Olympic venues, including the Olympic Village and "The Dome". Known as the "Green Games", environmental considerations were very important in designing and building the Sydney Olympic venues, a key feature being traceability of timber products. In supplying these projects, Austral was able to provide traceability of each plywood sheet, not only back to the sustainable Queensland plantation it originated from, but the individual compartment of that plantation.
Austral supplied over 20,000 plywood sheets throughout the Games venues including the Equestrian Centre, the Gymnastics venue, the Pool venue and the Boxing venue. Door skins and wall panelling were supplied in the main stadium, while plywood walls and ceilings were supplied in the other venues.
