Typical Applications
Austral AB22 is a versatile panel ideal for a wide range of interior and semi-exposed uses. Its high-quality Hoop Pine face makes it particularly suitable for:
- Wall and ceiling linings
- Interior joinery and cabinetry
- Shopfitting and display panels
- Furniture components
- Decorative paneling where a clean finish is required
- Structural applications requiring superior strength and stiffness
When properly sealed and finished, Austral AB22 can also be used in semi-exposed areas where durability and appearance are both important.
Certifications & Standards
Austral AB22 is engineered to satisfy AS/NZS 2271:2004 for exterior-grade panels and the structural requirements of AS/NZS 2269:2012, making it suitable for semi-exposed conditions while delivering enhanced structural performance.
Austral AB22 is manufactured with an A-grade face and B-grade back (AC is used for 2700mm panels), offering a premium finish and superior stability. Araucaria (Hoop Pine) is chosen for its excellent workability, strength-to-weight ratio and fine grain, making it ideal for both functional and decorative applications.
With an F22 stress grade, Austral AB22 offers significantly higher strength and stiffness than typical appearance-grade plywood. This rating indicates the panel’s capacity to carry structural loads with reduced deflection, providing added confidence in applications where both visual quality and reliable performance are essential. F22 places Austral AB22 in a class well above standard plywood panels, making it a genuine dual-purpose panel.
Bonded with a high-performance A-Bond phenolic adhesive (also known as WBP – Water Boil Proof), Austral AB22 delivers outstanding moisture resistance when correctly sealed, ensuring durability in semi-exposed conditions.
Backed by independent EWPAA certification, Austral AB22 meets rigorous quality and environmental standards. Learn more about our certification process here: Product Quality Certification.
