Marine plywood has long had the reputation as "the best" plywood, and for good reason. We like to think of it as a “AAA" plywood, as it must have an "A" face and back, "A" core veneers throughout, an "A-Bond" glue system, and manufactured using a Marine-designated timber specie. If any of these characteristics are not present, it is not Marine plywood.
As a high performing product, Austral AAA Marine is constructed using the highest grade veneers throughout the entire panel. It is manufactured from selected species based on density, bending strength, impact resistance and surface finishing characteristics. Austral AAA Marine is manufactured to AS/NZS 2272, using plantation Hoop Pine, a designated Marine specie.
For overlaying or fibreglassing applications we recommend Austral OO Marine. This cost-effective product is manufactured with "O" grade veneers on the face and back, but is otherwise identical to our AAA Marine (ie has an "A" grade core with "A" bond glue system).
Austral Plywoods is the only manufacturer of marine plywood that complies with Australian Standards.
