A Fire Retardant Panel by Austral Plywoods

Achieve a natural timber finish and meet BCA Fire Hazard regulations with Austral FR Panel. The Austral FR Panel is the perfect interior wall and ceiling panel that is:

  • Group 1,2 compliant (BCA Specification C1.10a)
  • Natural Hoop Pine veneer face
  • Fire retardant MDF core
  • E0/E1 formaldehyde rating
  • Chain of Custody certified (AS 4707:2014)

Fire retardant Group ratings relate to the solid Austral FR Panel. If Austral FR Panel is slotted or perforated it will affect the fire retardancy of the panel and will not be covered by our Group 1 certificate. (Where a fire certificate is required for slotted or perforated Austral FR Panel, the specifier will be responsible for conducting testing to Australian Standards, at their expense).

Note: Changes to fire regulations effective from 1st May 2019 will result in the reclassification of this product to Group 2. Our certificate will be updated before this date to reflect the change.

Featured Project - Wanangkura Stadium

Wanangkura Stadium, Port Hedland’s new recreation centre, features an international-standard, 400-seat indoor stadium, with external netball and basketball courts. The main sports court will cater for a wide range of uses, from sporting events and competitions to social events, cultural activities and musical performances.  (Architect: ARM Architecture. Important - Before using oil based coatings & stains, ensure that they are compatible with Hoop Pine plywood.  Although we do recommend water based finishes, stains from Livos Australia have been tested and approved by Austral Plywoods as being suitable for use with Hoop Pine plywood.  Other oil based coatings are not recommended on plywood where the finished job will be subject to close scrutiny. Other oil based coatings tend to penetrate the face veneer of the plywood and strongly highlight the natural figure in the timber, darkening it considerably. In many applications this may not be desirable. Other oil based stains also tend to swell the grain of the surface veneer, again potentially disfiguring the plywood.
